This was spent traveling the Highlands and Islands in order to assist in the research of my thesis subject, The Highland Clearances. This opportunity also allowed me to build a portfolio of work based on the dramatic landscape to support my specialist area of constructed textiles.
1987 'Young Designer into Industry', awarded by the Royal Society of Art
Having specialised in Knitwear I worked for five years as a senior Knitwear Designer for Marks and Spencer. This involved travel to New York, France, Italy and Germany.
1992 Appointed member of the Courtaulds' Design Committee
1994 PGCE (Art and Design), De Montford University, Leicester
1995 - 1998 Art teacher, Derbyshire. Delivered GNVQ, A Level and GCSE
2000 Returned to Scotland and settled in Inverness
Living in the heart of beautiful scenery, which was my inspiration from the early years has allowed me to refocus on my own painting which is both diverse and experimental. Mixed media, a variety of scale and layers of colour form the main ingredients of each piece.

Awarded funding from The Scottish Arts Council and Highlands and Islands Enterprise to enable further research and preparation for my first major exhibition held in April 2009 at Inchmore Gallery.
