New Year, Better Workspaces

It’s the start of a brand new year and we’re feeling refreshed, well rested and ready for what 2023 has to offer. We hope you had a great holiday break, and if you were celebrating, we hope you enjoyed your time with friends and family. Do let us know about your festivities!

Going into any new year, there’s always a new energy in the atmosphere. You may be making resolutions, planning for a big event, or just counting down the days until the warm weather returns. The new season of Landscape Artist of the Year on Sky is starting this month, and we’re super excited for the episode coming out on Wednesday, February 1st, because Fiona is on it! Make sure you tune in for a lovely watch.

We’re also looking forward to getting back into the swing of things, work wise. Fiona has her studio space at WASPS in Inverness, where she will be returning to painting commissions, planning new products and getting ready for the SEC Trade Fair in Glasgow at the end of the month. Having a dedicated space to focus on your work is so important for being productive. It’s also a big plus if that space is well decorated!

Towards the end of last year, Fiona took advantage of the beautiful light and photographed some cushion designs at the Inverness Creative Academy Phase 2 ‘hot-desk room ’. The ‘creative industries’ wing of the development, alongside the Assembly Hall and cafe is now open as a welcoming public space.

If you are looking for somewhere inspiring to work, the Academy offers flexible workplace options to suit your needs. Fixed desk, hot desk and meeting room bookings are now available, as well as artist studios. Fiona photographed her cushions in one of the rooms available for booking, which as you can see, is light and airy; the ideal type of work space.

Booking one of these rooms may not be an option for you, but there’s always other ways to transform your workplace. The addition of indoor plants into the workplace is a way to make a space more fresh and ventilated. You may be improving your home workspace or developing your business’ interiors, but whatever you’re doing, plants have a long list of benefits for you and your office.

Landscaping your space can help reduce stress, increase productivity and improve oxygen levels. Offices are typically not the most tranquil of spaces, so working on these factors through welcoming plants into the room will help create peace and relaxation without decreasing concentration levels.

Moreover, plants can also regulate energy. We don’t enjoy talking about the cost of living crisis, but plants can actually help tackle this. Depending on the type of plant, they can release or absorb humidity into a space which can regulate temperature, in turn reducing heating and cooling costs.

Lastly, plants look beautiful. Having them in your work space will make the aesthetics more welcoming. Plants, big and small, can have a huge impact on the decor value of a room. They can make the space more attractive for you to work in, and also for customers if you have a business. More online plant shops are offering services for greening up your work space, and we highly recommend Beards and Daisies for some tailored ideas to suit your office or business.

What are your plans for this new year? We would love to hear from you!
