OK, hands up I love to paint….
and that’s what I have been up to, what about you?
Last year was exceptional, full of innovative developments and new ventures, which has created rewarding, working relationships with new customers and suppliers.
One highlight (of many) is the successful bespoke, Loch Ness range, only available from '
An Talla' by Jacobite situated alongside the Caledonian Canal close to Inverness.

Fiona Matheson Studio is now available in the
National Trust for Scotland Inverewe Visitor Centre, the prestigious multi-million pound redevelopment of the Kilmartin Museum in Argyll, and stock has been shipped to pretty much every Scottish Island as well as Fife and the Central Belt!

A big shout out to you all, thanks so much for being here for the ride xxx

This year, I was determined to spend a sustained length of time being creative, taking a look at my process and asking new questions about my work which I hope to showcase in an exciting 'Reaching Abstraction' exhibition at Inverness Creative Academy in September.

  • I gained so much from the studio practice workshop led by prize winning artist, Kenneth Le Riche, and most importantly I was disciplined in attending! It is so easy to sign up for things and then make excuses not follow through.

  • I have also been committed to spending time being active outside, and allowing myself to stop and think.

  • Part of managing your own time means it is easy to put off things that, on the surface, appear a chore…. and writing blogs (apologies, if this may seem rude) falls into this category.

  • To make up for this, here is a small glimpse of a body of new work which is being developed for our joint ‘Reaching Abstraction’ exhibition here at the ICA in September, I hope you will forgive me for not blogging too much lately, and will be back more regularly soon.
